About the Founder
Angela Howard is the founder of PTSD-ACED Foundation, Inc. and is highly impacted by the adverse effects of PTSD secondary to ACEs. She herself has overcome extreme adverse childhood experiences with the highest ACE score of 10. Angela’s health has been adversely affected as she suffers from multiple autoimmune diseases and has recently suffered a stroke at the age of 41. Angela’s desire is to bring increased awareness of ACEs by educating those in the medical and educational fields.
Angela Howard is a registered nurse and has worked in the medical field for the past 20 years. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and certifications in Life Care Planning and Medical Case Management. She is a first time author of a memoir, entitled Sin Child, that highlights PTSD secondary to ACEs. She has been inducted into Continental Who’s Who as a Pinnacle Professional Member and VIP Woman of the Year Circle in the National Association of Professional Women.
Ms. Nancy Willis is a volunteer director and will hold the Secretary/Director position of the Foundation. Her duties are spelled out in the bylaws and include attending Board meetings, voting on Board decisions and participating in fundraisers. Ms. Willis is a registered nurse and holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing and a Master’s degree in Adult Education. She worked as a staff nurse and supervisor at LeBonheur Children’s Hospital for six years followed by a 24 year career at the Regional Medical Center, The Med”. At The Med, she was Director of Education then advanced to occupy a vice-president’s position until her retirement. Ms. Willis also owned Nancy Willis Interiors and was instrumental in design and construction of The Medplex, the outpatient arm of The Med. She also worked with a development group to renovate and reclaim downtown Memphis properties. She serves on numerous boards including serving as Vice President of Decorative Arts Trust at Brooks Museum, Trustee of Memphis’ Health, Education and Housing Facility Board and Director, Playhouse on the Square.
Ms. Gina Baptiste is a volunteer director. She is an Accountant with a Bachelors Degree of Business. She will hold the position of Treasurer with duties outlined in the bylaws and include attending meetings of the Board of Directors, voting on Board decisions, and participating in Fundraisers. She is responsible for oversight and safeguarding of the Organizations assets and liabilities. She has more than three decades of accounting experience and has served as Senior Controller, Treasury Facilitator, Senior Director and Chief Financial Officer for a large nonprofit Healthcare organization. She has a robust portfolio of successful planning, directing, and organizing. Her role with the Organization will ensure integrity and regulatory requirement adherence.
Ms. Debra Barnes is a volunteer director. She is credentialed as a BSN, MSN, CEN, and NREMT. She also is certified in the following disciplines:
-Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider/Instructor
-Pediatric Advance Life Support Provider/Instructor
-Advanced Cardiac Life Support Provider/Instructor
– Pre-Hospital Trauma Life Support Provider/Instructor
– Certified Emergency Nurse
– Neonatal Resuscitation Program Provider
– Emergency Nurses Association Member
– Nationally Registered EMT
She is retired from a reputable, non-profit Air Medical Service after 28 years of dedicated service. She has continued to serve the Nursing Industry in Retirement by working 6 years as an Emergency Department Educator. Her role of teaching and mentoring the Medical Community makes her role with the Organization uncommonly remarkable. Ms. Barnes has been a pillar of sharing care and knowledge for over four decades. Her duties are spelled out in our bylaws, and include attending meetings of the Board of Directors, voting on Board decisions, and participating in Fundraisers. She will be charged with serving in various capacities to promote awareness of the Organization, take assignments as needed, and volunteer as necessitated.
Ms. Peggy White is a volunteer board member and will serve on committees or task forces and offers to take special assignments as needed. Her duties are spelled out in our By-Laws, and include attending meetings of our board of directors, voting on board decisions, and participating in fundraisers. Ms. White has a Bachelors of Science in Health and Recreation and a Masters of Science in Health and Recreation. She spent 3 years as an elementary school teacher and devoted 39 years to the pharmaceutical industries representing 3 large pharmaceutical companies as a sales representative and leader. She serves on numerous boards including serving as President for the Fastbreak Club serving the University of Memphis Women’s Basketball Program and the University of Memphis Lady’s Golf Team.
